Creative Design & Visual Strategy

The Art of Translating Psychology into Design

Creative Design & Visual Strategy at Intentional Simplicity begins with a simple question: How will people experience this?

Human-Centered Design & Creative Psychology

Whether developing a workbook, communications plan, presentation, visual identity, social impact campaign, therapeutic resource, or educational tool, design influences how people engage with information, connect with ideas, and make meaning from what they encounter.

Our work sits at the intersection of creative psychology, communication, education, and visual design. Through thoughtful design, complex ideas are translated into experiences that support learning, strengthen community engagement, and help organizations communicate with greater clarity and intention.

While the medium may change, the purpose remains the same: to create resources that help people engage with information in ways that feel thoughtful, clear, accessible, and aligned with the communities they are intended to serve.

I use psychology to think about attention, emotion, memory, behavior, and meaning. Design gives those questions a visible form.

Creative Design & Visual Strategy in Practice

Returning to Yourself

Therapeutic Workbook Design

A guided workbook created to support self-reflection, nervous system awareness, self-advocacy, and personal growth through educational content, journaling prompts, and visual learning tools.

Creative Design & Visual Strategy for the Returning to Yourself therapeutic workbook developed to support self-reflection, nervous system awareness, self-advocacy, and personal growth through psychoeducation, journaling, and visual learning.

Before I decide how something should look, I want to understand what it is trying to hold and who needs to recognize themselves in it.

The workbook was adapted across desktop, tablet, and mobile formats so the material could remain accessible, recognizable, and easy to revisit across different environments.

I am always thinking about the person on the other side of the design. What are they carrying? What will they notice first? What will help them stay with the information?

Self-Therapy Workbook

Created for use across desktop, tablet, mobile, and print environments to support accessibility and ease of use.

The page system organizes dense psychological concepts into sections readers can pause with, return to, and engage with at their own pace.

A resource can be beautiful and still fail the person using it. I pay attention to what the design asks of people, especially when they are already carrying a lot.

A nonprofit communications system connecting organizational priorities, community storytelling, fundraising, and audience engagement across multiple initiatives.

The medium changes, but my question stays close: What form will help the idea reach the people it was created for?

Communications Strategy & Community Engagement

A comprehensive communications plan developed to strengthen organizational storytelling, audience engagement, and community-centered communication across multiple initiatives.

Research tools and a personality quiz were developed before the communications plan, allowing the strategy to respond to the organization rather than assume what it needed.

Strategic Planning & Communication Design

Designed to organize complex information into a clear, actionable resource that supports alignment, implementation, and long-term communication goals.

Organizations often know what they want to say. My work helps them consider how people may actually receive it.

A companion planner turned the larger strategy into weekly actions, content planning, and repeatable communication practices.

Good design helps people orient themselves. They should know where they are, what matters, and where they can go next.

Brand Identity & Visual System

A visual identity developed to support brand recognition, consistency, and communication across digital platforms while reflecting the personality and vision behind the project.

I pay attention to where the eye pauses, where the mind gets tired, and where someone may need more space.

Logo guidelines and responsive applications were created to help the identity remain recognizable and consistent across desktop, tablet, mobile, and printed materials.
