It is challenging to let your emotions manifest if you are numb to your feelings. Emotions are experienced with all of our senses, and in return, they impact how our behaviors are presented. I often ask clients to share how their emotions influence their behaviors. Or, where, inside their bodies are they feeling the emotions, may it be in their chest, back, throat, etc… Emotions manifest in several ways; a good example is when a person experiences trauma.

Similarly, as a therapist, the same things occur without us being prepared for emotions to influence our behaviors. The more attuned we are to these behaviors, we can begin understanding what it is like to be in our client’s position. They are often flooded with emotions that seem confusing and overwhelming.
